PMDD Clinic & Natural Treatments

Do you feel extremely low, irritable, anxious and emotional in the week (or so) leading to your period? Is it sometimes so bad you have thoughts of harming yourself or ending your life? Do you also have debilitating physical symptoms such as bloating, weight gain, sugar craving, migraines and night sweats at this time? PMDD is a serious condition that can be utterly relentless, exhausting and you may feel like there is nowhere to turn. At The Hormone Clinic, we experience excellent results using BHRT to get your hormones back in balance. Make an appointment to discuss your symptoms as we really can help.

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) characterised by debilitating emotional and physical symptoms that significantly impact daily functioning.

Hormonal imbalance

PMDD is believed to be linked to hormonal fluctuations that particularly occur during the luteal phase (second half) of the menstrual cycle. Oestrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate and become imbalanced leading to changes in neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine and GABA which can affect mood regulation and emotional well-being.

Recognising the Symptoms

PMDD symptoms typically appear in the week or two leading up to menstruation and may include:

Severe mood swings
Intense irritability or anger
Depression or feelings of hopelessness
Anxiety or tension
Thoughts of self harm or suicide
Fatigue or lack of energy
Changes in appetite or food cravings
Difficulty concentrating
Physical symptoms such as bloating, breast tenderness, or headaches
